Timberland Boat Moccasin Restoration

The boat shoe is one of the most iconic pieces of footwear in a man's wardrobe. And Timberland, an American brand founded in 1952, has made it a symbol of functional casual style, especially with its suede or smooth leather versions, visible stitching, and non-slip soles.
Born for life on boats and the coasts of New England, the Timberland boat shoe has become an urban classic over the years, recognizable for its mix of durability, comfort and clean lines.

Like any well-made shoe, however, even the boat moccasin may need to be renewed over time.

At the Ciccone Lab in Milan , we carry out a complete restoration of this model, maintaining the original style but restoring full functionality and durability.

The stages of restoration

  1. Removing the old sole
The first step is to remove the worn out sole. We do this manually, respecting the original stitching and the structure of the upper.

  2. Checking and replacing the midsole
If necessary, we also work on the midsole: we replace it with a new layer of leather or technical material, which is sewn as in the original model. This step is essential to restore the comfort and shape of the shoe.

  3. Application of a new Vibram sole
For the sole we use a Vibram model, selected for its aesthetic and performance characteristics similar to the original Timberland ones.
The new sole is glued , as in the factory assembly, to ensure flexibility and resistance.

  4. Handcrafted finishing and quality control
Each step is done by hand in our workshop, using traditional shoemaking techniques. Finally, the shoe is finished and checked for detail: stitching, symmetry, cleanliness, and the sole's grip.

A service available everywhere

This restoration is also available remotely: we'll arrange the pickup and return of your shoes, both in Italy and abroad. It's a simple way to access a specialized artisan service, even if you're not physically in Milan.

Why restore a Timberland boat?

The Timberland boat shoe is a timeless icon, constructed from sturdy materials and designed to withstand a life in the outdoors. Restoring it means breathing new life into an object that, with proper care, can last for years. Careful restoration restores the leather to its original softness , eliminates signs of wear, and restores the upper's shine, without altering its character.

Even the stitching and sole , distinctive elements of the model, can be reinforced or replaced to ensure comfort and safety with every step, whether on the deck of a boat or on the city streets. This intervention preserves the authentic Timberland style and prolongs its functionality, making it a solid, reliable, and pleasant-to-wear shoe.

Choosing restoration also means embracing a more responsible approach to consumption: instead of buying a new product, you give a quality item a new lease of life, respecting its history and contributing to sustainability. With proper maintenance and expert care, a Timberland boat shoe can truly endure seasons, travels, and experiences, always remaining true to its essential essence.
