Our sustainability
it's the quality

Leather: a sustainable resource

We choose animal skin first of all because it gives value to a material that the food supply chain leaves behind. The leathers we use come from that supply chain: a by-product which, without recovery, would risk becoming waste to be disposed of. Tanning transforms it into a resistant, versatile material capable of accompanying us for years. For us, sustainability also begins here: making good use of what already exists.

Then there are the qualities you feel in your feet. Good leather combines breathability, ability to absorb moisture, flexibility and resistance to tears and continuous folds along the way.

This is why the word "vegan", alone, is not enough for us to talk about ecology. Many alternatives to leather contain polyurethane or PVC, i.e. plastic materials; even some materials of plant origin contain synthetic coatings and components. A green name doesn't tell you how long a shoe will last, or what you can do when it gets ruined.

Quality leather, on the other hand, offers concrete possibilities for maintenance and repair: it can be cleaned, nourished, revived in color and, where damage allows, stitched or reinforced. If the shoe is built to be resoled, we can change the sole and keep the upper. A flaking synthetic coating is often much more difficult to recover in a lasting way.

Repair again: like our grandparents did

Our grandparents bought a good pair of shoes, took care of them and changed the sole when needed. Let's go back to that good habit, with today's skills and tools.

We have become accustomed to buying, throwing away and buying again. But is a shoe that costs little and lasts a few months really a saving? Each new pair requires other resources and the one thrown away becomes waste.

A well-made shoe can cost more at the beginning and less over time. The price is distributed over the seasons in which you wear it, while quality materials, breathable linings and a fit cared for contribute to daily comfort. And when something wears out, being able to repair it allows you to preserve everything else.

This is our philosophy Slow Foot: choose well, use for a long time, come back for repairs. Shoes have to go the way. Even after the first sole.

Well made in Italy

Few frills. Shoes made well, by people put in the conditions to work well. We produce in Italy: quality materials, accurate workmanship, regular work and safe environments, where respect and relationships between people also count.

The price of our shoes and our repairs includes all of this. There is the time needed to do a job, the years needed to learn it and the attention to detail, even those that cannot be seen.

You can read the price on the price tag. You understand the value by knowing what's behind it. Knowing the materials, how a product is made and whether you can repair it allows you to make informed choices.

We have the task of making our work recognisable. The choice of what you want to wear on your feet is yours.

Scegliere bene.

03 / Come continua

Scegliere come continuare.
