Characterized by its structured silhouette, with a rigid base and double zip, the Alma embodies the sophisticated style of Louis Vuitton. It is made with the famous Monogram canvas, Damier or Epi leather, with finishes in fine cowhide leather, which develops a natural patina over time.

The restoration of the Louis Vuitton Alma: materials and techniques used

When an Alma bag is used for years, cowhide leather tends to darken, stain and sometimes crack. Our artisan intervention has allowed us to restore this bag to its original conditions. 

Here's how we did it:

1. Removing old cowhide leather: with extreme care, we dismantled all the original leather parts, including handles, side reinforcements and edges;
   
   

2. Preparation of new skin: we have selected a light natural cowhide leather, the same used by Louis Vuitton, or alternatively a dark cowhide with an aged effect for those who want a vintage look;
   
   

3. Manual cutting and sewing: Each piece of leather was cut to size and hand-stitched with the same precision as the original bags, maintaining the authentic style;
   
   

4. Treatment and protection: the new cowhide has been treated to ensure greater resistance to wear, maintaining its ability to develop a natural patina over time.
